Becoming a soccer referee is both rewarding and fulfilling. Whether for a young person learning responsibility in his or her first job, or as an adult contributing to the sport. Referee training and development is a primary mission of the Northport Youth Center Soccer League.

Our Entry Level Referee Course is for all ages. The course offers complete basic instruction and prepares an individual to become a soccer referee.  Eight hours of classroom instruction, over three evenings is normally held at Northport High School. Four hours of practical instruction are usually given on a Saturday at a local soccer field refereeing simulated games with real teams.

NYCSL’s course is offered late January-early February of every year and is open to applicants who will be age 14 or older by July 1st of that year.
